The Boys' Choir School : A humanist vocation
The Colmar Boys' Choir School is a department of the Colmar Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental (CRD), managed by Eugène Maegey. The teaching team provides the student’s vocal and musical training. Focused on choral singing, this humanist training also develops awareness of others as well as the ability to be listening to them, it encourages the students to express themselves and acquire a sense of self-responsibility within the group, it welcomes findings and encounters during concerts and tours.
Created in 1985, as a result from a close partnership between
- The city of Colmar,
- the Ministry of National Education
- and the Ministry of Culture,
The Colmar Boys' choir School provides a quality general education as well as a high level musical one to about sixty boys.
The general teaching is given by the Ministry of National Education in two Colmar institutions with adapted timetables, which comply with the official curriculum.
Musical studies are conducted by the teachers from the Conservatoire.
